An Airport Layout Plan (ALP) is the official, FAA-approved graphic representation of an airport’s existing and future facilities. It serves as a master blueprint, guiding development to ensure safety, efficiency, and compliance with federal design standards.
The ALP is a critical planning tool with several key purposes:
Directs airport development and facility improvements
Protects surrounding airspace
Helps the FAA program funding and anticipate capital needs
Monitors compliance with federal requirements and Grant Assurances
Serves as a public record of present and future aeronautical requirements
Coordinates airport growth with community land use planning
FAA regulations require that an ALP remain current for at least five years, or longer, unless significant changes at the airport are planned or implemented.
The FAA is currently reviewing the above updated Airport Layout Plans to ensure they meet federal design and safety standards.
